I was so much enjoying drawing the coral itself and finding colours to overlap that I wanted to create a piece with LOADS of coral. There are so many bright, clashy colours, weird shapes and tiny little fish that you really need to look at this one for a while to take it all in.
I’ve been having such fun with my digital illustration that I couldn’t resist a few sea inspired pieces. I’ve been planning a coral reef illustration in my head but whenever I put brush to paper it never quite worked out. Using this digital method has meant the colours and shapes I had in my head have taken on a life of their own to create these fantasy reef illustrations.
I wanted to capture lots of little snapshots of my reef, so once I’d chosen the colours I was going to play with I just let my imagination enjoy itself. There is so much fun and freedom in these illustrations, and because the colours are all incredibly similar they’d look great in pairs or as a group.
